Witham (Somerset) 24/07/77

Picture of one of the discs at Bewdley, showing a different balance weight. (1977)
Later picture of the other disc at Bewdley.
We move onto the later standard short ground signal, having a 1' diameter flat face of enamelled steel, bolted to the cat iron front plate. A plunger from the end of the balance weight passes through the flat plate on an extension of the stretcher bar. Thus the point is detected. This crossover is partly dismantled.

Ashton Gate Junction 1977

Rear view of the same signal. Note the white painted blinder, this covered the hole through which the lamp shone. Thus the signalman could see that the signal had gone off. In the case of this signal, we are looking at the box.

Ashton Junction 1977
